Clinical Pilates Programs in Vancouver

Are you new to Physiotherapy? Has someone suggested trying ‘Clinical Pilates’ but you are not sure what to expect?   These One -on- One 45 or 60 min sessions will utilize the principles of Pilates in combination with manual therapy and hands on facilitation to address either excessive mobility (hyper mobility) or restriction in range of motion (stiffness) to improve strength from the inside out. Breathing techniques will be emphasized to improve ones activation and postural control. Various pieces of equipment such as the reformer, tower, chair and barrel will be used to identify non optimal movement patterns and then restore recruitment to improve overall function. The goal will be to design a program specific to the individuals needs whether it be sport-specific training or improving activities of daily living in order to return to the activities you love.

Clinical Pilates is particularly beneficial when treating the following challenges:

If you have any imaging: Xray, MRI, CT scan, or Ultrasound your therapist will want to review these results with you either during your initial assessment or on your follow up appointment.
  3. Your therapist will complete both a postural and biomechanical assessment looking at range of motion, strength and your muscle recruitment and motor control strategies throughout your body.
  4. They will complete the session with an explanation of the Basic Principles of Pilates and discuss where these concepts can be applied to your specific movement goals and outlined how they can build a program to address various deficits or non-optimal patterns that they find in your assessment.
